It's time that the mental health, chronic pain and disability communities feel empowered. Empowered to stand up for ourselves, empowered to make informed decisions about our health and empowered to thrive in a system that often leaves us feeling like we don't have a voice.
Our participants leave the workshop feeling empowered because they've received the tools necessary to overcome difficult situations and environments in life.
If education wasn't powerful, they wouldn't burn books.
This course offers education on all things mental health, chronic pain and disability from a trauma-informed, lived experience and peer support lens. It also supports and strengthens the participant's inner self advocacy, offering brainstorming and problem solving for life's day-to-day obstacles as someone with adverse lived experiences.
No matter where you find yourself on your mental health journey, you may encounter or experience obstacles, barriers and inner/outer judgement or stigma.
This workshop aims to normalize symptoms and experiences of mental health disorders, chronic pain and disability. It supports the individual relationship with our experiences and holds space for our own unique, non-linear journey.

The Self Advocacy Workshop is designed to help empower individuals who experience chronic illness, disability & symptoms of mental health disorders. It aims to help individuals from these communities regain control of their lives by not only setting them up for success but by providing them with the awareness, education and tools necessary to thrive vs survive. Because at Trauma Tree, we believe in building bridges instead of obstacles.
